A sprinkler gravity tank may be located on the top of a building or on a tall tower. The water in the tank is distributed throughout the sprinkler or standpipe system because of the pull of gravity.
To be scheduled with the gravity tank maintenance company, advised no later than three (3) months before the end of the year. We advise scheduling your annual cleaning along with your annual inspection.
Before the arrival of the technician, the gravity tank must be drained. This process is typically 3-4 hours. Water tanks must be inspected by a qualified inspector, who then submits the results to the Health Department. To be qualified, an inspector must meet one of the following conditions:
- They must be a licensed master plumber.
- They must work under the direct and continuing supervision of a licensed master plumber.
- They must be a licensed professional engineer or architect design professional.
